Trail Spotlight: Chattahoochee RiverWalk in Columbus
October 1, 2015
Located in the heart of the bustling Uptown district, the Chattahoochee RiverWalk has earned Columbus, Georgia a spot as one of the forty most Bicycle Friendly Communities in the United States according to the League of American Bicyclists.
This trail is paved, and you’ll often find bikers, walkers, joggers, rollerbladers--even an occasional unicyclist!
The 22-mile trail begins at the Lake Oliver Dam in North Columbus, and provides first rate views of the newly created Urban Whitewater course, an abandoned molasses tanker, the beautiful Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center, and passes by the towering National Infantry Museum before carrying on through Fort Benning.
Post ride, you can enjoy the vast variety of entertainment provided by Columbus’ eclectic Uptown scene, with events ranging from shows at the Rivercenter or Springer Opera House, to live jazz at The Loft on Broadway.
