Rail Trail Name and Logo Unveiled at Every Body Walk Newton Grand Finale
May 4, 2017
On Wednesday, May 3, with over 160 trail fans in attendance, Newton Trails unveiled the official rail trail name and logo and celebrated the occasion with a ribbon cutting and the last walk of the 2017 Every Body Walk Newton series sponsored by Piedmont Healthcare.
With over 50 unique suggestions submitted last fall, Newton Trails sought input from local community leaders and state trail experts regarding a name for the 14.9-mile rail trail in Newton County. Cricket Frog Trail was the clear favorite with one statewide trail advocate noting, "The name fits in nicely with other Georgia and regional trails, such as the Dragonfly Trail in Columbus, Firefly Trail in Athens and Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville, South Carolina."
We're proud to be highlighting a lesser-known, native species found in wetland areas along the trail corridor. Our special thanks to local graphic artist Scott Fuss with Snapping Shoals EMC for the beautiful logo design. Learn more about the Cricket Frog Trail and its namesake on our new Cricket Frog Trail webpage.
We hope you'll consider a membership contribution, business sponsorship or donation to celebrate this momentous occasion and help us continue development of the Cricket Frog Trail.
