Trail Neighbors Spearhead Blower Brigade

October 1, 2017

Whether it's planting trees, picking up litter, clearing vegetation, or installing a trailside bench, Cricket Frog Trail neighbors are stepping up to improve and maintain our community's long-sought rail trail. The latest effort is a volunteer blower brigade, which will strive to clear light debris from the .65-mile paved trail section in Covington on a weekly basis.

Newton Trails volunteer Dan Walden has created an online sign up form for those interested in putting their backpack or handheld blowers to work. Volunteers from near and far can sign up for one shift or commit to a regular schedule.

The approximate time commitment is 45 minutes to an hour to clear the trail from Elm Street to Conyers Street.

Newton Trails is also looking for individuals, community groups and businesses willing to participate in our Adopt-a-Spot program. Take responsibility for monitoring a section of paved or unpaved trail, and we'll recognize your efforts with a trailside sign. Learn more about our Adopt-a-Spot program.
