Wednesday, July 25: Hike at Factory Shoals Park

July 22, 2018

NOTE:  ALL HIKES WILL BEGIN AT THE TRAIL HEADS FOR THE REST OF THE SUMMER.  We will NOT meet in Mayfield Hardware's parking lot until further notice.

Our hike on July 25th is at Factory Shoals Park in the southern part of Newton County.

Plan to meet at 8:00 a.m. at the park located at 450 Newton Factory Bridge Rd., Covington, GA.

To get there head south on Hwy. 36 south of downtown Covington.  Make a left on Newton Factory Bridge.  The entrance is just before the bridge crossing the Alcovy River.

This hike will include hiking along major shoals as the Alcovy empties into Lake Jackson, seeing the ruins of one of America’s largest centers of manufacturing in the early 1800’s, walking by the cemetery, and walking on a dirt road along the Alcovy River.
