    Wednesday, October 3: Hike Rock Hawk Trail

    CHANGE IN WHERE TO MEET.

     

     

    We will start meeting back at Ace Hardware but continue to meet at 8am. We will also plan to eat lunch after the hikes again.

     

     

     

    Our hike on Oct. 3rd is at Rock Hawk Park near Eatonton.  We will hike the Orange and Red Trails for about 4.5 miles.

     

    Plan to meet at 8:00 am in the parking lot at Mayfield Ace Hardware (Elm Street in Covington).  We have permission to park there, but please park at the bottom of their lot close to Walgreens.

     

    If you prefer, meet us at the location below.

     

    After the hike we will eat at

    Sisson’s Old South BQ,

    Eatonton 31024

    Rock Hawk (125 Wallace Dam Rd., Eatonton, GA 31024)

    ·    Distance from Covington: 50 miles

    ·    Start:  Parking area close to the rock effigy

    ·    Restrooms:   available

    ·    Trail distance: 

    o   Orange & red trails – 4.5 miles

    o   Green, blue and part of yellow trails – est. 5 miles

    o   Yellow trail, model T, and Upper T with connecting pieces – est. 5 miles

    ·         Easy/moderate 

    ·         Trail surface:  natural surface

    ·         Leashed dogs permitted

    ·         Fees:  no fee

    ·         Maps/web site:  www.exploregeorgia.org or www.rockhawk.org

    ·         Other:   The trail distance includes multiple trails.  Trails are multi -use. 

     

    There is a viewing tower, quarry and plant trail.
