On Wednesday, June 12, our hike is at Factory Shoals Park in the southern part of Newton County
Plan to meet at 8:00 a.m. at the park located at 450 Newton Factory Bridge Rd., Covington, GA.
To get there go south on Hwy. 36 from downtown Covington. Make a left on Newton Factory Bridge Rd. The entrance is on the right just before the bridge crossing the Alcovy River.
We will be hiking along major shoals as the Alcovy empties into Lake Jackson, seeing the ruins of one of America's largest centers of manufacturing in the early 1800's, and walking by the cemetery as well as on a dirt road along the Alcovy River.
