HELP NEWTON TRAILS DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN TRAILS
Newton Trails' annual fund-raising campaign is now open. The goal this year is to raise $25,000 to help develop and maintain the Cricket Frog Trail. The monies raised through this initiative will be used for trail maintenance and advancing our efforts to renovate the Alcovy River Bridge. Renovation of the Bridge will be a major, expensive, but important project. Important because the Alcovy River Bridge is a key element for completion of the Cricket Frog Trail from Porterdale, through Covington and Mansfield, to Newborn. The PATH Foundation is currently engineering a design solution for the bridge and obtaining cost estimates. A major capital and grant-writing campaign will begin soon to raise money specifically for the bridge. However, your contribution to the $25,000 annual campaign is important for at least three reasons. First, your donation will help Newton Trails maintain the trails we have, including the additional 5 miles paved by Newton County this fall. Second, many people like yourself contribute, it will demonstrate to granting agencies and large dollar donors that there is a high level of local and regional support for the Cricket Frog Trail and the Alcovy River Bridge renovation. Third, granting agencies usually require some level of matching money from local people, businesses, or organizations. Newton Trails will use money received from the annual campaign to match grant dollars. There are two ways to donate to Newton Trails: · Directly by sending a check made out to Newton Trails, P.O. Box 2010, Covington GA 30015 or by using a credit card or PayPal at newtontrails.org/donations.
