Help open more of the Cricket Frog Trail

Newton Trails' fund-raising goal for 2021 is $25,000 with the money to be spent on two temporary bridges. Any funds in excess of that needed for the bridges will be spent on trail signage, maintenance equipment, or amenities such as benches, pet waste stations, and so on. To make a donation, go to See below for details on how to enter a drawing for prizes or bid on a fantastic vacation opportunity.

Newton Trails's primary goal is to build temporary bridges where the Cricket Frog Trail crosses East Bear Creek and West Bear Creek. Permanent bridges require time for planning, design, and construction as well as more money than can be raised in an annual campaign. It may take several years. In the meantime, temporary bridges will ensure safe crossings until designs and funding can be obtained for permanent bridges. With temporary bridges in place and given the additional paving being planned and contributed by Newton County, five more miles of paving should be added to the Cricket Frog Trail. The Alcovy River bridge will remain closed until it can be permanently renovated. Funds raised in 2020 are being used, along with money from grants and the City of Covington, to renovate the trestle and create a permanent bridge over Dried Indian Creek in Covington. We met our goal last year and in a few months we will all see the result. Help Newton Trails have an equally successful 2021 campaign! Note that all contributions since October 2020 will be counted towards our 2021 campaign goal.
