Located northeast of Covington off Alcovy Road, Lake Varner (aka Cornish Creek Reservoir) is Newton County's main water source.  In addition to a short, paved trail along the lake, there is a primitive trail leading to a granite outcrop.  Visitors can also enjoy lakeside picnic tables with grills, an accessible fishing pier, playground, two pavilions, and restroom facilities.  More information about the the facility is available on the Newton County website.
